Research Activities

Spintronics

We are conducting research aimed at creating nanoscale artificial materials by combining metals, semiconductors, and other materials, with the goal of controlling the diverse physical properties arising from the interplay of electron charge, spin, and phase. In particular, we aim to realize spintronics—the field that enables the precise control of the two degrees of freedom of electrons: charge and spin. This type of research has only become possible due to the dramatic advancements in microfabrication technology in recent years, and it has emerged as a major global trend in materials science, where basic research leads directly to practical applications.
